The Erasmus+ Programme aims to promote equal opportunities, access, inclusion, diversity, and fairness in all of its activities. In this context, Istanbul Gedik University supports the participation of individuals who may face various barriers—such as social, economic, physical, psychological, or health-related challenges—in Erasmus+ mobility activities.

Participants with fewer opportunities may be eligible for additional financial support in order to ensure their effective participation in Erasmus+ mobility activities.

Participants with special needs are individuals who may not be able to participate in the Erasmus+ Programme without additional financial support. Depending on the participant’s individual needs, support may cover additional costs related to:

• Accessible accommodation and transportation;
• Travel assistance;
• Medical or health-related needs;
• Special equipment or suitable materials;
• Assistance from accompanying persons, where necessary;
• Other additional costs directly related to the participant’s special needs.

Additional Financial Support

Participants with fewer opportunities may be eligible for additional financial support in addition to their regular Erasmus+ mobility grant.

Inclusion Support

Participants with physical, mental, or health-related conditions may apply for additional support to cover the actual costs arising from their participation in the mobility activity.

The amount of this support is determined based on the participant’s individual needs and actual eligible expenses. Therefore, the support amount may exceed the standard Erasmus+ grant, subject to the applicable Erasmus+ Programme rules and approval procedures.

Supplementary Grant Support

Students and recent graduates with fewer opportunities may be eligible to receive an additional grant in addition to their regular Erasmus+ grant. The following participants may be considered eligible for supplementary grant support:

• Individuals who are entitled to protection, care, or accommodation under Law No. 2828 on Social Services or Law No. 5395 on Child Protection;
• Students who are orphans, or children of martyrs or veterans;
• Students who receive need-based financial support;
• Individuals with disabilities, documented by an official disability report;
• Other participants facing social or economic disadvantages, in accordance with the criteria determined for the relevant Erasmus+ Call.

Supplementary Grant Amounts

Inclusion Support provides 100% coverage of eligible additional costs directly related to participants with fewer opportunities who require extra financial support due to personal, physical, mental, or health-related conditions.

This support may also cover the costs of preparatory visits and accompanying persons, including travel and subsistence expenses, provided that these costs are justified, approved by the National Agency, and are not already covered under the “Travel Support” or “Individual Support” budget categories.

Example

For example, if a participant with a disability requires an accompanying person during their Erasmus+ mobility and incurs additional travel and accommodation costs that are not covered by the standard Travel or Individual Support grants, these additional eligible costs may be fully covered (100%) through Inclusion Support, subject to prior approval by the National Agency.

Note: Grant amounts and eligibility criteria may vary according to the Erasmus+ Programme Guide, National Agency regulations, and the applicable call period.

Scholarships provided by the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) or merit-based scholarships are generally not considered within the scope of need-based financial support.

How to Apply

Students and staff members who have been awarded an Erasmus+ mobility grant and believe that they may be eligible for inclusion or additional support are kindly requested to contact the Istanbul Gedik University International Relations and Erasmus+ Coordinatorship.

Applications are evaluated in accordance with the rules and procedures established by the Turkish National Agency and the relevant Erasmus+ Programme guidelines.

Depending on the type of support requested, applicants may be required to submit supporting documents. Our office will provide guidance to participants throughout the application process.
