1 - What is the Erasmus Program?
Erasmus is an EU program that supports student, academic, and administrative staff exchange among higher education institutions within Europe and some non-European countries. For students, the Erasmus Program offers opportunities for international experience through study or internship placements.
2 - Who Can Apply for Erasmus?
Associate, undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students can apply for the Erasmus Program. Undergraduate and associate degree students must have a minimum GPA of 2.20/4.00, while master’s and doctoral students are required to have a minimum GPA of 2.50/4.00 at the time of application. Application requirements may vary depending on the type of program. There is a language proficiency requirement for applications; students are typically expected to score at least 60 on the language exam administered by our university or from nationally/internationally recognized exams. Information and dates regarding language exams are provided in the application announcements.
3 - When Can I Apply for Erasmus?
Erasmus applications are generally accepted once a year, typically between February and March. Mobility can commence no earlier than the academic year following the one in which you applied. (For example, if you apply in the 2024-2025 academic year and are accepted for mobility, you can participate in mobility starting in the 2025-2026 academic year.) However, application dates may vary, so it is important to check the announcements on the International Relations and Erasmus Coordination Office's website.
4 - What Are the Next Steps After Being Selected for Erasmus?
After selection, you will need to handle various tasks, including preparing study or internship agreements, visa procedures, insurance, and accommodation. The International Relations and Erasmus Office will guide you throughout this process. Your study agreement must be approved before departure, and any course equivalencies should be arranged if applicable.
5 - How Are Visa Procedures for Erasmus Mobility Carried Out?
Visa requirements may vary depending on the country you will be visiting. Erasmus students usually travel abroad with a student visa. Be sure to start the visa process in time by checking the consulate page of the country you plan to visit and gathering the required documents.
6 - Do I Need to Obtain Health Insurance While Abroad on Erasmus?
Yes, you must obtain valid health insurance for the duration of your stay abroad as part of the Erasmus Program.
7 - What is the Erasmus Grant, and How Much Can I Receive
(If selected with a grant) The Erasmus grant is financial support provided to help cover living expenses during your time abroad. The grant amount varies depending on the destination country and is updated annually based on rates set by the European Commission. Information about grant amounts can be obtained from the International Relations Office or the Erasmus website. 80% of the grant is paid before the start of the mobility period, with the remaining 20% paid upon completion of the mobility.
