A seminar titled “Laser Welding Case Studies in Robotic Applications”, jointly organized by the Istanbul Gedik University Robotics Technologies Application and Research Center and the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, was successfully held on Thursday, 23 July 2026, from 14:00 to 16:30 at Istanbul Gedik University’s Kartal Campus.

The guest speaker of the seminar was Prof. Dr. Shufeng Sun, a faculty member at Qingdao University of Technology, one of China’s leading higher education institutions, who is well known for his research in femtosecond and nanosecond laser welding technologies. During the seminar, participants were introduced to current industrial applications of robotic laser welding technologies, case studies from various sectors, and recent developments in laser-based manufacturing technologies.

The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal, Director of the Istanbul Gedik University Robotics Technologies Application and Research Center and Head of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering (English). Following the presentation, participants had the opportunity to exchange views during a question-and-answer session focusing on robotic laser welding technologies, advanced manufacturing methods, and future research areas.

As part of the programme, Prof. Dr. Feriha Erfan Kuyumcu, Rector of Istanbul Gedik University, met with Prof. Dr. Shufeng Sun to discuss potential academic collaborations between the two universities. The discussions focused on international research projects, student and academic staff exchange programmes, and potential joint scientific studies.

During his visit, Prof. Dr. Shufeng Sun was also given a tour of the Gedik Holding Showroom and the Gedik Robotics Department, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Savaş Dilibal.

The seminar was successfully concluded, making a significant contribution to the development of potential international research collaborations and the exchange of knowledge in the field of robotic laser welding technologies.
