Call for Exchange Students: Kwangwoon University, South Korea – Spring 2027
We are pleased to announce an exchange student opportunity at Kwangwoon University in Seoul, South Korea, for the Spring 2027 semester.
Kwangwoon University, established in 1934, is located in Seoul and has an extensive international network, with partnerships in 27 countries and 133 institutions. The university offers a wide range of academic programmes in areas including engineering, electronics, artificial intelligence, computer science, business, international studies, social sciences and natural sciences.

Student Application Deadline: 30 November 2026
Students who are interested in participating in the programme must first be nominated by Istanbul Gedik University. Following nomination, students are required to complete the application process and submit the required documents within the deadline.
Who Can Apply?
The Spring 2027 exchange programme is open to undergraduate students of partner universities who are nominated by their home institution. Students are advised to select academic fields that are compatible with their current programmes at Istanbul Gedik University.
Language Requirement
Applicants must provide an official document demonstrating sufficient proficiency in either English or Korean.
For English-taught study, the following minimum qualifications are accepted:
TOEFL iBT: 61
IELTS: 5.0
Alternatively, students may provide a TOPIK Level 4 certificate, proof of completion of at least two Korean undergraduate courses, or an official document confirming equivalent language proficiency.
Academic Programme and Course Information
Exchange students may take undergraduate courses, including courses taught in English, as well as certain major and elective courses specifically offered to international students.
Students are expected to take a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 19 credits per semester. The final Spring 2027 course catalogue will be announced by Kwangwoon University before the semester begins. The English-taught course list currently available is based on the 2026 academic year and is therefore provided for reference only.
Tuition Fees
Exchange students nominated by partner universities are exempt from regular semester tuition fees at Kwangwoon University. Students continue to pay any applicable tuition fees to their home university in accordance with institutional regulations.
Important: Financial Support
Istanbul Gedik University will not provide an Erasmus+ grant or other financial support for this mobility.
Students who participate in the Kwangwoon University exchange programme must cover all travel, accommodation, living, insurance, visa and other personal expenses from their own financial resources.
Students are therefore strongly advised to carefully consider the financial requirements before applying.
Estimated Living and Accommodation Costs
Students may choose between university dormitory accommodation and accommodation arranged independently off campus.
Approximate costs provided by Kwangwoon University include:
University Dormitory: approximately KRW 1,900,000 per semester
Off-campus accommodation: approximately KRW 600,000–700,000 per month
Estimated other living expenses are approximately KRW 900,000 per month, including food, transportation, mobile phone and study-related expenses. Airfare, home-country insurance and personal expenses are not included.
The university dormitory accommodates two students per room and provides facilities including beds, desks, wardrobes, internet, bathrooms, laundry facilities, a fitness room and communal areas. Meals and bedding are not included in the dormitory fee.
Insurance and Visa
Exchange students are required to enroll in the Korean National Health Insurance (NHI) system. The monthly insurance cost is approximately KRW 90,000, subject to annual adjustments.
Students must obtain a D-2-6 Student Visa before travelling to Korea. Kwangwoon University recommends that students apply for the visa in their home country before departure.

Semester Dates
For Spring 2027, students are expected to arrive in mid-to-late February, with the semester running approximately from 2 March to late June. Participation in the pre-departure online orientation programme is mandatory for newly admitted exchange students.
