Azerbaijan Technical University Delegation Visits Istanbul Gedik University

A delegation led by Prof. Dr. Vilayat Valiyev, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University (AzTU), visited Istanbul Gedik University on 14 July 2026 to discuss the further development of the existing cooperation between the two institutions and explore new areas for collaboration.

The delegation also included Prof. Dr. Leyla Mammadova, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Telecommunications, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aytan Movsumova, Vice Dean of the Faculty, both from Azerbaijan Technical University.

The meeting, hosted by Prof. Dr. Feriha Erfan Kuyumcu, Rector of Istanbul Gedik University, focused on strengthening the existing academic cooperation between the two universities. The discussions included opportunities for developing scientific research activities, conducting joint R&D projects, increasing academic mobility, jointly designing certificate programmes, and delivering educational activities in collaboration. The participants also exchanged views on potential joint projects in various fields, particularly in engineering and information technologies.

The meeting was attended on behalf of Istanbul Gedik University by Prof. Dr. Feriha Erfan Kuyumcu, Rector; Ahmet Sevük, Gedik Holding Director of Globalization, Strategy, Business Development and International Supply Logistics; Zekiye Aydın, Secretary General; M.Sc. Kadir Dağyıkan, Istanbul Gedik University Labour Market Representative and Director of the Gedik Test Centre (GTM); Prof. Dr. Cem Sütçü, Director of the Graduate School; Prof. Dr. Egemen Sulukan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Murat Danışman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karaaslan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Redvan Ghasemlounia, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kubilay Atalay from the Faculty of Engineering; as well as İlayda Önder and Sena Gengönül from the International Relations and Erasmus Coordination Office.

During the discussions, both institutions emphasized their shared commitment to developing their existing cooperation in a sustainable manner. The parties agreed to explore new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in the areas of international education activities, joint certificate programmes, student and academic staff mobility, and scientific research.

Both sides also reached a mutual understanding on continuing their efforts to implement joint projects in the coming period and to strengthen the existing cooperation through concrete and sustainable outcomes.

The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts and a commemorative photograph.
